CalSnap AI ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how data is collected, used, and protected when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect & Process

• Food Photos & Images: Images of food captured via your camera or selected from your photo library are processed to identify ingredients, estimate weight, and compute nutritional values.
• Voice Transcripts & Text Entries: Spoken audio notes (transcribed locally) or custom text meal descriptions (e.g. "2 eggs, cooked in butter") entered to refine meal accuracy.
• User Identifiers: Anonymous user IDs or Sign in with Apple tokens used strictly to manage your account status and sync meal logs across your devices.
• Subscription & Purchase Data: Subscription status and purchase receipts managed securely via RevenueCat and Apple StoreKit 2.

2. Third-Party AI Services & Data Sharing (Apple Guidelines 5.1.1(i) / 5.1.2(i))

When you trigger a food scan, photo upload, or meal description query, the following data is transmitted to Google Gemini AI:

• Food photos and image base64 data.
• Transcribed voice notes and custom meal description text.
• Selected cooking style preferences (e.g., raw, light oil, heavy oil).

Equal Data Protection Guarantees: Our third-party AI service provider (Google Gemini AI) processes data under strict enterprise privacy agreements. Specifically:

• All data is transmitted securely via HTTPS (TLS 1.3 encryption).
• No Public AI Training: Your food photos, voice transcripts, and text queries are NEVER used to train public or generalized AI models.
• Data is processed ephemerally for instant nutritional estimation and is not sold, rented, or shared with data brokers or advertising networks.

3. In-App User Permission & Choice

Before transmitting any photo or meal text to third-party AI services, CalSnap AI presents an in-app consent disclosure detailing what data is sent, who it is sent to, and how it is used. You can grant or revoke your AI data processing permission anytime inside the app under Settings → Account & Security → AI Data Processing Consent.

4. Data Protection & Storage Isolation

API keys and credentials are isolated inside encrypted Google Cloud Secret Manager infrastructure. Your meal logs and photo cache remain stored locally on your device or in your secure personal storage.

5. No Third-Party Advertising or Tracking

We do not display third-party advertisements, track your web activity across other apps or websites, or sell your health data.

6. Data Retention & User Erasure Rights

You have complete control over your data. You can clear your local photo cache or permanently erase all history anytime inside the app under Settings → History Retention & Storage → Delete All History.
