Privacy Policy
Recall is an offline-first personal intelligence application designed with privacy as its core principle. We
believe your memories belong to you alone.
Last updated: June 2026 (v1.0.7)
1. Data Collection
We do not collect, store, or share your personal data (photos, notes, audio, documents, or location). All
data remains locally on your device, including data locally secured in the Vault. Nothing is uploaded to
any external server operated by us.
- Personal Data: We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal names, photos,
voice notes, documents, or item details to any external server. All data is stored locally on your
device, including data locally secured in the Vault.
- Location Data: When you save a memory, the app may attach the GPS coordinates of where
the memory was captured (latitude, longitude, accuracy, timestamp). This data is stored exclusively
on your device alongside the memory and is never transmitted off-device. It powers the "Captured here"
map link, the "Near me" filter, and the Pro return-reminder feature. You can deny or revoke this
permission at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy > Location Services; the app continues to work
normally without it (location-aware features are simply unavailable).
- Usage Data: We do not track your behavior or usage of the App.
2. In-App Purchases
Transactions are processed securely by the Apple App Store. We do not process or store your credit card
information. We only receive a confirmation receipt from Apple to unlock Pro features.
3. Permissions
- FaceID / TouchID: Used solely for unlocking the secure "Which" vault. Biometric data
never leaves your device's Secure Enclave.
- Camera / Microphone: Used only to create memory attachments (photos, audio notes) at
your express request.
- Location (While Using): Used at the moment a memory is saved to tag it with the place
of capture. Used at the moment you tap the "Near me" filter to find nearby memories. Coordinates stay
on-device.
- Location (Always — Pro only, optional): Used to register geofences around places where
you've saved memories so the app can buzz you with a local notification when you walk back into that
place (parking spots, gate codes, locker numbers). Region monitoring is handled entirely by iOS;
coordinates never leave your device.
- Notifications: Used for alerts you schedule on memories, background backup status,
"On This Day" flashbacks, and Pro return-place reminders.
- Siri & Shortcuts (optional): The app exposes a public URL scheme
(
recall-native://add) so you can build a Siri Shortcut to capture a memory hands-free.
Siri's voice-recognition data is processed by Apple per Apple's privacy policy — Recall only receives
the resulting text.
